PARENT SUPPORT GROUP (PSG)

The Ngee Ann Primary School’s Parent Support Group (PSG) was formed in the year 1999 with just 30 members.  Over the years, the PSG membership has grown to well over 150 as in Jun 2006.

Objectives

  • To strengthen home-school collaboration and partnership
  • To establish a shared vision and goals with parents
  • To help pupils achieve the Desired Outcome of Education
  • To promote parental involvement in the school programmes
  • To provide opportunities for networking among parents

Teachers’ Day Dinner

Committee members attended the Teachers’ Day Dinner at Marina Mandarin hosted by Ngee Ann Kongsi.

Sports Day 27 Jul 2007 Members took part in a novelty item as well as rendered logistic support to the event.

Committee members attended the session and raised issues and concerns as well as to give constructive feedback to the school leaders.

Founders’ Day 2006

Active and committed members were invited to the Founders’ Day Dinner held in the school hall and were presented the Certificate of Appreciation from Mr Richard Lee, Chairman of Ngee Ann Kongsi Education Committee.

Meet the Principal Session 2006

18 Feb 2006

Members attended the session during which the principal shared the school vision and goals and clarified new educational policies that are of interest to the parents. Members also took the opportunity to raise issues and concerns as well as to give constructive feedback to the school.

Chinese New Year Celebration 2006

27 Jan 2006

A member performed a Mandarin poem recital entitled “数来宝“during the concert.
Members also set up and manned several stalls which at the Parade Square for the mini carnival. They taught pupils about the Chinese poems, proverbs and Chinese New Year’s tradition and customs.

Members listen to pupils' reading on a one-to-one basis so as to enhance pupils' confidence and ability in oral reading.

Learning Support Programme (LSP)

Members serve as “Reading Mums and Dads” to the pupils who have reading difficulty.

Members provide the logistic support and supervise pupils in

Members assist in the supervision of pupils.

Members assist in manning the school library and make recommendation of books to the pupils.

Members supervise and guide pupils on the use of computers and E-learning programmes.

School Canteen

Weekly

Members check on the food sold in the canteen to ensure that the vendors keep the hygiene and health standard.

Field Trips and Excursions

Members assist the teachers in supervising and guiding the pupils.

Enrichment Programmes / Workshops

Members provide professional expertise by conducting enrichment programmes for pupils and workshops for parents.

Project Work

Members provide logistics support to the pupils during the project work presentation.

Members decorated and manned the various stations featuring traditional games at the Parade Square for the mini carnival.

Members set up and manned the various booths for traditional Chinese handcrafts and food.

P5 Jumble Sale

Members set up a stall for sale of items contributed by the parents and the PSG members. Fund raised from the sale was channeled to help the needy students in the school.

Old Text Book & School Uniform Recycling Project

Annually

Members collected used text books from existing pupils and gave them away to needy pupils in the school.
